Gaps in point cloud data can lead to longer processing times, fewer valid pick locations, and less reliable picking. A new powerful scanning feature, honed through successful testing in the early access phase, is now officially available on all MotionCam-3D devices. End customers can now scan previously unscannable transparent objects, broadening the scope of applications and improving overall scanning accuracy. Integrators gain more flexibility, opening new verticals and enhancing their overall operational efficiency.

Additionally, the added profiles and Settings Assistant ensure that transparent objects scanning can be set up in a few clicks, no longer requiring expert knowledge.

Industries such as food and beverages, pharmaceuticals, logistics, and e-commerce stand to benefit immensely. Many items in these sectors are packaged in transparent materials or bubble wrap, making this feature particularly valuable. 

With the ability to scan transparent objects accurately, the need for manual inspection and handling decreases, leading to faster processing times and lower labor costs. Complex processes, such as sorting, packaging, and assembly, become more efficient and reliable.

This feature is exclusive to MotionCam-3D devices, enhancing their versatility and application range.

Dark and Glossy object scanning

Improvement in scanning of glossy and dark objects using all Photoneo 3D Sensors thanks to the High-Frequency coding strategy and other improvements helps not only the completeness of the surfaces but also minimizes the noise. This together with the new point cloud filtering method provides noise-free scans ensuring, for example, a better part localization.
When scanning complex surfaces such as reflective L-shaped metal pieces, the updated profiles or the Settings Assistant will diminish the effects of the interreflections or other artifacts by finding the best parameters a Photoneo 3D Sensor on firmware 1.13 has to offer.  

Clearer Data with Glare Reduction

Enhanced 3D data streaming support enables a wide range of applications including machine vision, automation, robotics, and even medical imaging. 

This means there is no need to install additional driver software to operate the device. All you need is a GigE-compatible software of your choice running on its supported operating system and architecture. This allows the user to control the Photoneo 3D Sensors using even a non-x86-based computer.
Besides that, thanks to our onboard processing unit, the vast majority of processing is done on the sensor itself. 

This feature extends integrability options for all Photoneo 3D sensors. Existing devices can benefit from the firmware 1.13 update through the firmware updater utility.
